Abstract: Un uomo torna al paese natale per un funerale: hanno ritrovato i suoi genitori in una fossa comune. Tornare dopo vent’anni significa cercare risposte. La guerra però non lascia risposte, lascia domande. La casa dalla quale era partito è stata abitata da altri, poi è stata abbandonata. Porta sui muri i segni della violenza e del ricordo. Osservandone gli spazi, l’uomo cerca il senso degli eventi passati. I ricordi si sovrappongono alle immagini logorate di una vecchia VHS: la quotidianità di un paese che non si sarebbe mai aspettato la guerra. A modo suo l’uomo si ritrova ad interrogarsi sul significato di parole come casa, origine, fuga, guerra, esilio, futuro, pace. Per scoprire che forse l’unica verità è che il paese non si è mai spostato, è rimasto ad aspettarlo, senza fretta. E’ come se avesse saputo che prima o poi lui sarebbe tornato. Per fare i conti.
A man returns to his home town for a funeral: his parents have been found in a mass grave. Returning after twenty years means looking for answers. But war does not leave answers, it leaves questions. The house he left from was inhabited by others, then abandoned. It bears the marks of violence and memory on its walls. Observing its spaces, the man searches for the meaning of past events. Memories are superimposed on the worn-out images of an old VHS: the everyday life of a country that never expected war. In his own way, the man finds himself questioning the meaning of words like 'home', 'origin', 'escape', 'war', 'exile', 'future', 'peace'.
