The documentary recounts the artistic, cultural and social life of the Brera district in Milan in the 1960s. The starting point is a photograph of a group of young artists, taken at "Geni's bar" in 1964 by Uliano Lucas. Since the 1950s, Geni's (which at the time was the bar owned by the documentary's author's family), together with Giamaica and other bars, had been at the centre of the artistic, cultural and social life of the neighbourhood, where residents, craftsmen, artists, photographers, journalists, intellectuals and showmen met every day. Analysing the photo, the documentary recognises those present in the photograph and recalls many others who, only by chance, were not there at the time the photo was taken, but who still frequented the bars and trattorias as if they were part of the same family. The film is also a work on memory and its deceptions, on the oversights created by the passage of time and their power to add and at the same time remove "truths", starting from the memories of the people portrayed in the photographs. It is a choral story told through the voices of those who lived through those years, alternating images of the neighbourhood today with archive footage, photographs and images from the period taken from magazines and catalogues.
