Abstract: Per 17 anni, Thierry Michel ha viaggiato molto attraverso l'ex Zaire, ora Repubblica Democratica del Congo. Questa volta, il documentarista belga ha filmato le miniere del Katanga, una regione in fermento che si è trasformata in un enorme gioco di "Monopoli" geopolitico per le multinazionali e le mafie di tutto il mondo a causa delle ricchezze minerarie. Seguiamo lunghe riprese movimentate degli scavatori impegnati nelle gallerie minerarie, dei minatori in sciopero e dei tentativi di filmare le compagnie cinesi e il traffico di uranio. "Mine of Worries in Katanga"è il dietro le quinte del film "Katanga Business", altro film realizzato da Thierry Michel nel 2009. Si tratta però più di un reportage che di un making of. Prolunga l'altro film e apre nuove strade per scoprire il nuovo El Dorado della globalizzazione che è diventato oggi il Katanga.
For 17 years, Thierry Michel has travelled extensively through the former Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of Congo. This time, the Belgian documentary filmmaker has filmed the mines of Katanga, a region in turmoil that has become a huge game of geopolitical"Monopoly" for multinationals and mafias around the world because of the mineral wealth. We follow long, eventful footage of diggers working in mining tunnels, striking miners and attempts to film Chinese companies and uranium trafficking. "Mine of Worries in Katanga" is the behind-the-scenes feature of "Katanga Business", another film made by Thierry Michel in 2009. However, it is more of a reportage than a making of. It extends the other film and opens up new ways of discovering the new El Dorado of globalisation that Katanga has become today.
