Abstract: Essendo una piccola setta costantemente in pericolo di estinzione, i Samaritani hanno regole molto severe nei confronti dei propri adepti. Dopo che Sophie Tzdaka e le sue tre sorelle hanno lasciato la comunità, la loro famiglia è stata oggetto di terribili molestie fisiche e mentali da parte dei membri della setta. Barak Heymann segue Sophie, la figlia più giovane nonché noto personaggio televisivo, in un viaggio tra le ferite e le sofferenze della sua famiglia. Il toccante rapporto padre-figlia che il film dipinge solleva questioni universali di appartenenza, fede e identità, e vede i protagonisti costretti ad affrontare la difficile condizione di isolamento comune a tutti coloro che cercano un percorso personale all'interno di un mondo tribale chiuso.
As a small and constantly endangered sect, the Samaritans have very strict rules for their followers. After Sophie Tzdaka and her three sisters left the community, the family became the object of terrible physical and mental harassment by members of the sect. Director Barak Heymann ("Bridge over the Wadi", "Dancing Alfonso") follows Sophie, who is the youngest daughter as well as a television personality, on a journey to her family's open wounds in an attempt to understand who the real victim of their broken home was. Lone Samaritan is a touching father-daughter journey that raises universal questions of belonging, faith and identity, and forces its heroes to confront the difficult isolation of those seeking a personal path within a closed tribal world.
