Abstract: Secondo un antico modo di dire, la storia getta le sue bottiglie vuote fuori dalla finestra. E se tutte queste bottiglie venissero raccolte? Quali storie avrebbero da raccontare? 1962-1989: Karl-Heinz vive nella DDR. Scrive lettere al suo amico Gerhard in Germania Ovest. Più di 30 anni di corrispondenza raccontano la storia della separazione di un paese. 2007: siamo in viaggio. Alla ricerca di ciò che è rimasto della separazione tra Germania orientale e occidentale. Incontriamo persone lungo l'ex confine. Persone di entrambe le parti ci raccontano il loro passato e le aspirazioni per il futuro. Insieme a noi abbiamo le lettere di Karl-Heinz. According to an old saying, history throws its empty bottles out of the window. What if all these bottles were collected? What stories would they have to tell? 1962-1989: Karl-Heinz lives in the GDR. He writes letters to his friend Gerhard in West Germany. More than 30 years of correspondence tell the story of the separation of a country. 2007: We are on the road. In search of what is left of the separation of East and West Germany. We meet people along the former border. People from both sides tell us about their past and aspirations for the future. Together with us we have Karl-Heinz's letters. Eventually we come across new borders. More bottles thrown out of the window? It's time to pick them up. An essay film and a road movie.
