Abstract: Per il popolo Tubu, la vita nel deserto del Sahara è allo stesso tempo dura e molto semplice. Uomini e donne hanno ruoli ben definiti. Gli uomini allevano di cammelli, le donne si occupano della casa. Qualsiasi cosa una donna intenda fare, ha bisogno del permesso del marito. Per le donne, questa condizione sarebbe insopportabile se non fosse per la carovana annuale che le porta a fare un viaggio di 1.500 chilometri a piedi attraverso il deserto per raccogliere datteri. Anche se le condizioni sono estreme, vendere il loro raccolto di datteri porta loro indipendenza economica, orgoglio e fiducia in se stesse. Domagali, Amina e Mariama sono tre donne che affrontato i conflitti tra tradizione e modernità, tra libertà individuale e solidarietà di clan.
For the Tubu people, life in the Sahara desert is both hard and very simple. Men and women have well-defined roles. The men herd camels, the women take care of the house. Whatever a woman wants to do, she needs her husband's permission. For the women, this condition would be unbearable if it were not for the annual caravan that takes them on a 1,500-kilometre journey across the desert on foot to collect dates. Although the conditions are extreme, selling their date harvest brings them economic independence, pride and self-confidence. Domagali, Amina and Mariama are three women who face the conflicts between tradition and modernity, between individual freedom and clan solidarity.Domagali, Amina and Mariama are three women whose destinies draw us into their world.
