Abstract: Clémence Hébert torna a Cherbourg, la sua città natale, per filmare ciò che suo padre, morto di alcolismo in un incendio nel suo appartamento, ha lasciato dietro di sé: foto, lettere, qualche video di famiglia. Confrontando questi archivi con i ritratti dei suoi parenti, il film mette in scena l'incontro tra il passato e il presente e cerca di riconnettersi con ciò che è scomparso. La videocamera passa di mano in mano, dai genitori ai figli, dai morti ai vivi. Il film di amiglia è completato e la storia di una stirpe viene rivelata.
Clémence Hébert returns to Cherbourg, her hometown, to film what her father, who died of alcoholism in a fire in his flat, left behind: photos, letters, a few home videos. By comparing these archives with the portraits of her relatives, the film stages the encounter between the past and the present and tries to reconnect with what has disappeared. The camera passes from hand to hand, from parents to children, from the dead to the living. The family film is completed and the story of a lineage is revealed.
