Abstract: Isabelle Dierckx, regista di questo documentario, è di origine fiamminga, ma non parla olandese. La sua famiglia è sempre stata 'resistente' a quella lingua. Tuttavia, il suo bisnonno, Octave Dierckx, era un ministro liberale fiammingo che si occupava anche di questioni linguistiche. Basandosi sulla sua storia familiare, trattata con certo umorismo, la regista ci parla dell'ambigua relazione tra le due lingue nazionali. Si reca quindi ad Anversa per scoprire la cultura fiamminga e imparare l'olandese durante le riprese del film.
Isabelle Dierckx, director of this documentary, is of Flemish origin, but does not speak Dutch. Her family has always been 'resistant' to that language. However, her great-grandfather, Octave Dierckx, was a Flemish liberal minister who also dealt with language issues. Based on her family history, treated with a certain humour, the director tells us about the ambiguous relationship between the two national languages. She then travels to Antwerp to discover Flemish culture and learn Dutch while shooting the film.
