Abstract: In Bolivia, la donna è una forza lavoro a basso costo. Pulisce, lava, cucina, alleva i bambini e deve guadagnarsi da vivere, altrimenti può essere presa percossa dal marito. La protagonista del film, la lottatrice Carmen Rojas, combatte per i suoi diritti. Dopo anni di umiliazioni e violenze domestiche, si è allontanata da suo marito. Oggi Carmen cresce i suoi figli da sola. Combatte sul ring per 10 dollari a settimana, sbarcando a malapena il lunario. Ogni domenica, nella boliviana El Alto, si svolge uno spettacolo straordinario, simile al wrestling americano. Sul ring si svolgono feroci combattimenti di lottatori spietati. Gli attori principali di questo spettacolo non sono uomini atletici con una postura da orso, ma cholitas da combattimento - lottatrici indiane. Sul ring Carmen combatte per la dignità sua e di tutte le donne della Bolivia.
In Bolivia, the woman is a cheap labour force. She cleans, washes, cooks, raises the children and has to earn a living, otherwise she can be taken advantage of by her husband. The film's protagonist, the wrestler Carmen Rojas, fights for her rights. After years of humiliation and domestic violence, she broke away from her husband. Today Carmen raises her children alone. She fights in the ring for 10 dollars a week, barely making ends meet. Every Sunday, in Bolivia's El Alto, an extraordinary spectacle takes place, similar to American wrestling. Fierce fights of ruthless wrestlers take place in the ring. The main actors in this show are not athletic men with bear-like postures, but fighting 'cholitas' - Indian female wrestlers. In the ring Carmen fights for her dignity and that of all women in Bolivia.
