Abstract: In Iraq, nel corso dei 30 anni di governo del Baath sotto Saddam, migliaia di curdi e sciiti iracheni furono uccisi o scomparvero. Circa 182.000 persone persero la vita allorquando 4.500 villaggi e piccole città nelle regioni di Kirkuk, Soleimanieh, Dahouk ed Erbil vennero distrutte con lo scopo di sterminare i curdi e arabizzare il Kurdistan. Il ritrovamento, dopo 24 anni, di una delle fosse comuni nel deserto del sud dell'Iraq, è la base di un film che descrive le condizioni di vita di questi villaggi abitati per lo più da madri, figlie, mogli o sorelle di quelle vittime.
In Iraq, during the 30 years of Baath rule under Saddam, thousands of Iraqi Kurds and Shiites were killed or disappeared. About 182,000 people lost their lives when 4,500 villages and small towns in the regions of Kirkuk, Soleimanieh, Dahouk and Erbil were destroyed with the aim of exterminating the Kurds and Arabising Kurdistan. The discovery, after 24 years, of one of the mass graves in the desert of southern Iraq, is the basis of a film that describes the living conditions in these villages inhabited mostly by mothers, daughters, wives or sisters of those victims.
