Abstract: Sly Stone è stato uno dei grandi innovatori musicali degli ultimi 50 anni. Con la sua band The Family Stone è stato uno delle star del Festival di Woodstock. Poi Jimi, Jim e Janis morirono e divennero leggende. Sly sopravvisse alla tossicodipendenza e nei primi anni '80 si ritirò dalle scene. Registi e musicisti (tra i quali Prince) hanno cercato di contattarlo, senza successo. Le stazioni televisive avevano offerto migliaia di dollari, nella speranza di un'intervista, ma Sly non si è mai fatto tentare. Nel 2002, il regista/musicista Willem Alkema iniziò a cercare Sly Stone. Due anni dopo, lo trovò in una casa al termine di una strada senza uscita su una collina appena fuori Los Angeles. Finalmente nel giugno 2009 Sly ha rilasciato la sua prima intervista da 20 anni a questa parte.
Sly Stone was one of the great musical innovators of the last 50 years. With his band The Family Stone he was one of the stars of the Woodstock Festival. Then Jimi, Jim and Janis died and became legends. Sly survived drug addiction and retired from the scene in the early 1980s. Filmmakers and musicians (including Prince) tried to contact him, without success. Television stations had offered thousands of dollars in the hope of an interview, but Sly was never tempted. In 2002, filmmaker/musician Willem Alkema began searching for Sly Stone. Two years later, he found him in a house at the end of a dead-end street on a hillside just outside Los Angeles. Finally in June 2009, Sly gave his first interview in 20 years.
