Abstract: In una valle remota al confine tra Pakistan e Afghanistan, gli ultimi 3.000 Kalash pagani vivono circondati dalla comunità musulmana e dai rifugiati afgani. All'annuncio del solstizio d'inverno, pregano, cantano e ballano per la rinascita delle stagioni e della loro cultura. Tra di loro, la giovane Najiba si accorge di essere diventata una donna e comincia ad essere consapevole dei crescenti pericoli che minacciano la sua comunità. Questa primavera, i talebani hanno superato le porte del suo villaggio. Mentre si lascia alle spalle la sua infanzia spensierata, Najiba si trova al punto di svolta: deve scegliere se convertirsi all'Islam o perpetuare le proprie tradizioni. Con questa scelta, la sua generazione potrebbe porre fine all'eterno ritorno delle stagioni, a lungo venerato dai Kalash.
In a remote valley on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the last 3,000 Kalash pagans live surrounded by the Muslim community and Afghan refugees. When the winter solstice is announced, they pray, sing and dance for the rebirth of the seasons and their culture. Among them, young Najiba realises she has become a woman and begins to be aware of the growing dangers threatening her community. This spring, the Taliban have broken through the gates of her village. As she leaves her carefree childhood behind, Najiba finds herself at a turning point: she must choose whether to convert to Islam or perpetuate her traditions. With this choice, his generation could put an end to the eternal return of the seasons, long revered by the Kalash.
