Abstract: "Durante due soggiorni nel campo dei rifugiati palestinesi di Shatila (Libano) ho girato un film con l'intenzione di mostrare come vive la gente del posto, soprattutto i bambini e le donne. Per raggiungere questo obiettivo, ho realizzato diverse interviste a persone che vivono in questo luogo dl 1948 (quando 900.000 persone furono cacciate dalla Palestina) e conoscono tutta la storia dei campi, specialmente quello di Shatila. Uno di loro mi ha raccontato il massacro di Sabra e Chatila, avvenuto nel 1982, quando le falangi libanesi, appoggiate dalle forze israeliane, entrarono nel campo e uccisero più di 1.500 persone. Mostrando luoghi, strade, case ed edifici così come l'attività, il traffico e le difficili e miserabili condizioni di vita, mi sono concentrato sull'attività specifica del CYC (Children and Youth Center), un luogo educativo finanziato e governato dal popolo palestinese e sulle attività dell'Associazione Najdeh, che aiuta le donne a ottenere corsi (alfabetizzazione, computer, corsi di parrucchiere) per aiutarle a trovare lavoro". "During two stays in the Palestinian refugee camp in Shatila (Lebanon), I shot a film with the intention of showing how the locals live, especially the children and women. To achieve this goal, I made several interviews with people who live in this place since 1948 (when 900,000 people were driven out of Palestine) and know all the history of the camps, especially the one in Shatila. One of them told me about the massacre of Sabra and Chatila, which took place in 1982, when Lebanese phalanxes, supported by Israeli forces, entered the camp and killed more than 1,500 people. Showing places, streets, houses and buildings as well as the activity, the traffic and the difficult and miserable living conditions, I focused on the specific activity of the CYC (Children and Youth Center), an educational place financed and governed by the Palestinian people and on the activities of the Najdeh Association, which helps women to get courses (literacy, computer, hairdressing courses) to help them find a job".
