Abstract: L’uomo dalla bocca storta è Luciano Salce, regista, attore ed autore satirico, tra i più importanti del Novecento italiano. Il suo ritratto è un viaggio che ha inizio a Feltre, davanti alla sua tomba. Accompagnati con discrezione ed ironia dal figlio Emanuele, siamo introdotti nei primi difficili anni di vita di Luciano Salce: la morte della madre poco dopo il parto, l’infanzia e l’adolescenza vissuti in collegio a Frascati, la reclusione nei campi di prigionia tedeschi (prima a Norimberga, poi a Dachau). Avversità che hanno progressivamente costruito la personalità di Luciano, uomo capace di sviluppare una maschera d’ironia come protezione alla propria sensibilità. Un’ironia che è diventata ben presto il carattere saliente anche in campo artistico: iscrittosi, dopo gli studi in collegio, all’Accademia d’Arte Drammatica, Salce mostrerà spiccate doti umoristiche come regista ed attore teatrale, prima in Italia e poi in Brasile, dove emigrerà all’inizio degli anni ’50. A metà dello stesso decennio, fa ritorno in Italia, dove debutta nel cinema come regista e come attore, il successo in tv e radio come monologhista satirico. E' stato autore di celebri commedie cinematografiche e iniziatore della popolare saga di "Fantozzi".
The man with the crooked mouth is Luciano Salce, director, actor and satirical author, one of the most important of the Italian twentieth century. His portrait is a journey that begins in Feltre, in front of his tomb. Accompanied with discretion and irony by his son Emanuele, we are introduced to the first difficult years of Luciano Salce's life: the death of his mother shortly after giving birth, his childhood and adolescence spent in a boarding school in Frascati, and his imprisonment in German prison camps (first in Nuremberg, then in Dachau). These adversities gradually built up Luciano's personality, a man capable of developing a mask of irony as a protection for his sensitivity. An irony that soon became the salient character also in the artistic field: having enrolled, after his studies at boarding school, at the Academy of Dramatic Art, Salce would show remarkable humorous skills as a director and theatre actor, first in Italy and then in Brazil, where he would emigrate at the beginning of the 1950s. In the middle of the same decade, he returned to Italy, where he made his debut in the cinema as a director and as an actor, and enjoyed success on TV and radio as a satirical monologue writer. He was the author of famous film comedies and the initiator of the popular "Fantozzi" saga.
