Abstract: All'inizio del 2008, le notizie sui disordini in Tibet sfarfallano sugli schermi televisivi dei salotti tedeschi - ma possono riferire solo che non c'è niente da riferire, grazie alla censura e agli ordini di bavaglio del governo cinese. Gli esuli tibetani di tutto il mondo tengono manifestazioni sincronizzate per i diritti umani fondamentali, come la libertà di parola e di stampa, nella loro patria. Anche i pochi tibetani berlinesi si uniscono, scendendo in piazza con veemenza per mesi e mesi; sembrano sentire il dovere di esercitare questo ritrovato diritto di manifestazione.Berlin Exile è un film sulla vita in esilio, e un'istantanea di una confusa lotta per un momento di attenzione agli occhi e alle orecchie dei media mondiali.
In early 2008, news reports about the unrest in Tibet flicker across TV screens in German living rooms - but they can report only that there's nothing to report, thanks to censorship and gag orders from the Chinese government. Tibetan exiles the world over hold synchronized demonstrations for basic human rights, such as freedom of speech and of the press, in their homeland. The few Berliner Tibetans join in as well, taking vehemently to the streets for months on end; they seem to feel a sense of duty to exercise this new-found right to demonstration. "Berlin Exile" is a film about life in exile, and a snapshot of a confused fight for a moment of attention in the eyes and ears of the worldwide media.
