Abstract: Ciro è un giovane pugile di Napoli, dell’antico quartiere Ventaglieri, nel centro storico della città. La sua storia è quella di un mite che pratica uno sport di sfida cruenta e che affronta le difficoltà della vita con tenerezza e silenziosa tenacia, da campione leale. Il film racconta i silenzi, il respiro, i corpi, i ring, le urla dei tifosi-bambini, la tenerezza di Ciro, che risulta in forte contrasto con la rudezza del mondo della boxe. Si esplorano i suoi rapporti con la madre, con la fidanzata Annarita e con i suoi due mentori, Geppino Silvestri, uno dei più grandi maestri italiani di pugilato e suo figlio Lino, che hanno cominciato a prendersi cura di lui fin da tredicenne.
Ciro is a young boxer from Naples, from the old Ventaglieri district in the city's historic centre. His story is that of a meek man who practises a sport of bloody challenge and faces life's difficulties with tenderness and silent tenacity, as a loyal champion. The film recounts the silences, the breathing, the bodies, the rings, the screams of the fans-children, the tenderness of Ciro, which is in stark contrast to the roughness of the boxing world. We explore his relationships with his mother, with his girlfriend Annarita and with his two mentors, Geppino Silvestri, one of the greatest Italian boxing masters, and his son Lino, who started looking after him when he was thirteen.
