Abstract: L'Hotel Bauen è stato costruito a Buenos Aires nel 1978, durante il periodo della dittatura militare. Nel dicembre 2001, mentre il paese sprofonda in una profonda crisi economica, l'hotel fallisce e gli impiegati vengono licenziati. Rimasti allo sbando, nel marzo 2003 una trentina di ex-dipendenti fondano la cooperativa di lavoratori Bauen con l'intenzione di gestire in proprio la struttura. Riabilitano le infrastrutture e aprono ai clienti nel marzo 2004. Da allora, lavorano in un sistema di autogestione con partecipazione agli utili; condividono compiti e salari, votano in ogni assemblea ogni decisione che li riguarda. Da questo luogo unico e simbolico, il film propone di immergersi nel cuore dell'autogestione che funge da metafora arguta dell'Argentina di oggi.
The Bauen Hotel was built in Buenos Aires in 1978, during the period of the military dictatorship. In December 2001, as the country sank into a deep economic crisis, the hotel went bankrupt and the employees were laid off. Left in the lurch, some 30 former employees founded the Bauen workers' cooperative in March 2003 with the intention of running the hotel themselves. They rehabilitate the infrastructure and open for customers in March 2004. Since then, they have been working in a system of self-management with profit-sharing; they share tasks and wages, and vote at every meeting on every decision that affects them. From this unique and symbolic place, the film proposes to plunge into the heart of self-management, which serves as a witty metaphor for today's Argentina.
