Abstract: L'eccezionale avventura architettonica della costruzione della nuova stazione di Guillemins, a Liegi, nel cuore dell'Europa, con la sua rete di binari ad alta velocità. Il documentario segue la lenta gestazione di questo progetto faraonico per nove anni, dal primo morso delle scavatrici meccaniche alla posa dell'ultimo ciottolo. La costruzione di questo edificio, affidata al famoso architetto Santiago Calatrava, si è rivelata una fonte infinita di sfide. In primo luogo c'era la sfida tecnologica di costruire una nuova e più grande stazione ferroviaria nello stesso luogo della vecchia stazione senza interrompere il traffico. Inoltre le sue dimensioni, il suo volume e le sue linee insolite fecero sì che questo edificio fosse una straordinaria sfida architettonica che richiedeva la precisione di un orologiaio.
The exceptional architectural adventure of building the new Guillemins station in Liège, in the heart of Europe, with its network of high-speed tracks. The documentary follows the slow gestation of this pharaonic project over nine years, from the first bite of the mechanical diggers to the laying of the last pebble. The construction of this building, entrusted to the famous architect Santiago Calatrava, proved to be an endless source of challenges. Firstly, there was the technological challenge of building a new, larger railway station on the same site as the old station without interrupting traffic. In addition, its size, volume and unusual lines meant that this building was an extraordinary architectural challenge requiring the precision of a watchmaker.
