Abstract: Due immagini: l'insediamento del presidente bielorusso, Alexandre Loukachenko e un vecchio contadino che contempla il suo regno, un villaggio popolato da figurine di legno su cui lui regna come padrone assoluto. Queste due immagini trasmettono la stessa idea di dispotismo. Alleata alla Russia da un trattato del 1998, la Bielorussia ha la triste reputazione di essere "l'ultima dittatura d'Europa". A Minsk, le manifestazioni contro la dittatura di Loukachenko sono state brutalmente represse. Il film mette in evidenza la fonte di un conflitto tra una popolazione di campagna arretrata e sottosviluppata che sostiene il regime, e una società urbana desiderosa di cambiamento. Il conflitto non solo oppone il mondo urbano e quello rurale, ma anche vede contrapporsi due generazioni.
Two images: the inauguration of the Belarusian president, Alexandre Loukachenko, and an old peasant contemplating his kingdom, a village populated by wooden figurines over which he reigns as absolute master. These two images convey the same idea of despotism. Allied to Russia by a 1998 treaty, Belarus has the sad reputation of being 'the last dictatorship in Europe'. In Minsk, demonstrations against Loukachenko's dictatorship were brutally repressed. The film highlights the source of a conflict between a backward and underdeveloped rural population that supports the regime, and an urban society eager for change. The conflict not only pits the urban and rural worlds against each other, but also pits two generations against each other.
