Abstract: Un resoconto personale su ciò che significa essere in viaggio. Descrive lo speciale stato d'animo che conoscono solo in coloro che viaggiano per il gusto di viaggiare. Questo stato di consapevolezza accresciuta, la joie de vivre, perfettamente descritta in "On the Road" (1957) di Jack Kerouac, è stata la fonte di ispirazione per il regista, che ha viaggiato attraverso gli Stati Uniti visitando Detroit, Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, ed esaminando se il modo di vivere imparziale e avventuroso che caratterizza il romanzo esiste ancora nell'America di oggi, proprio come per la stesura di in "On the Road", molto poco è stato stabilito prima delle riprese, e il più è stato lasciato al caso e all'intuizione durante il viaggio.
A personal account of what it means to be on the road. It describes the special state of mind known only to those who travel for the sake of travelling. This state of heightened awareness, the 'joie de vivre', perfectly described in Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road' (1957), was the source of inspiration for the filmmaker, who travelled across the United States visiting Detroit, Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and examining whether the unbiased and adventurous way of life that characterises the novel still exists in today's America. Just as with the writing of "On the Road", very little was determined before filming, and most was left to chance and intuition during the journey.
