Abstract: Spesso considerata una societā marginale, la malavita del riciclaggio di San Paolo, la pių grande metropoli del Brasile, fa da sfondo alla toccante storia di Claudinęs e della sua famiglia. Hauling rivela la vita quotidiana di quest'uomo, padre di oltre 27 bambini, e di molti altri che si guadagnano da vivere raccogliendo e riciclando materiale che altri hanno buttato via. Per fare questo, Claudinęs visita abitualmente il quartiere del centro di Santa Ifigęnia nel suo autobus VW verde lime. Visitatore regolare da pių di 5 anni, č ben conosciuto dai negozianti e dai residenti locali, che spesso donano non solo il solito cartone e la plastica, ma anche altri beni usati, come parti di computer che lui restaura e vende. Claudinęs e la sua famiglia sono il simbolo delle migliaia di persone che in Brasile ricorrono al riciclaggio per guadagnarsi da vivere e che per questo subiscono pregiudizi e discriminazioni. Questo film ci mostra l'intimo funzionamento di quell'universo nel tentativo di stimolare il riciclaggio e di esporre questi individui come seguaci di un modo di vivere nobile e rispettabile.
Often regarded as a marginal society, the recycling underworld of São Paulo, Brazil's largest metropolis, is the backdrop to the touching story of Claudinęs and his family. Hauling reveals the day-to-day life of this man, a father to over 27 children, and of many others who make their living out of collecting and recycling material that others have thrown out. In order to do this, Claudinęs routinely visits the downtown neighborhood of Santa Ifigęnia in his lime-green VW bus. A regular visitor for over 5 years, he is well known by the local shopkeepers and residents, who often donate not only the usual cardboard and plastic, but also other used goods, such as computer parts which he restores and sells. Claudinęs and his family serve as a symbol of the thousands of people in Brazil who resort to recycling in order to make a living and suffer prejudice and discrimination as a result. This film shows us the intimate workings of that universe in an effort to stimulate recycling and to expose these individuals as followers of a noble and respectable way of life.
