The documentary focuses on the Cape Verdean-American musician Norberto Tavares, bandleader, social activist and humanitarian. For thirty years, Tavares acted as the social conscience of this West African island nation, commenting on and influencing Cape Verde's social and political life as the nation transformed from a Portuguese colony to a free democratic republic.
