Abstract: Il cortile della mia infanzia può sembrare un anonimo parcheggio malandato situato in un quartiere ultra-ortodosso di Gerusalemme. Per me è il paesaggio dell'unica casa dove abbia mai abitato. Gli eroi del mio cortile sono: mia moglie, Re'ut, che odia il cortile e si sente perseguitata dagli ultraortodossi; il quarantaquattrenne Daniel, il primo mago ultraortodosso, che sogna di lasciare il cortile per andare a Parigi, e Yisrael, un ragazzo ultraortodosso, diviso tra il mondo esterno e le leggi non scritte della società in cui vive. Un film sulle persone che si sentono estranee in casa propria.
The courtyard of my childhood may look like an anonymous shabby car park located in an ultra-orthodox neighbourhood of Jerusalem. For me, it is the landscape of the only house I have ever lived in. The heroes of my courtyard are: my wife, Re'ut, who hates the courtyard and feels persecuted by the ultra-Orthodox; the 44-year-old Daniel, the first ultra-Orthodox magician, who dreams of leaving the courtyard to go to Paris; and Yisrael, an ultra-Orthodox boy, torn between the outside world and the unwritten laws of the society he lives in. A film about people who feel like strangers in their own home.
