Abstract: La vita quotidiana di una monaca birmana, che vive in un convento nel quale ha sede una scuola monastica dove gli studenti e le novizie non sono chiaramente destinati a diventare monaci. Il film è incentrato sull'osservazione dei gesti e dei comportamenti dei bambini e degli adolescenti nella loro vita quotidiana, intorno a una doppia domanda che un viaggiatore occidentale può porsi: esiste una possibilità di vita felice diversa da quella dei monaci buddisti in un paese che assomiglia a un grande monastero? Cosa sognano le giovani birmane? Il film è stato girato clandestinamente nella regione di Pyinmana, la nuova capitale del Myanmar (ex-Burma) che ha sostituito Rangoon nel febbraio 2006, e a Mandalay.
The daily life of a Burmese nun, who lives in a convent in which there is a monastic school where students and novices are clearly not destined to become monks. The film focuses on observing the gestures and behaviour of children and adolescents in their daily lives, around a double question that a Western traveller might ask: is there a possibility of a happy life other than that of Buddhist monks in a country that resembles a large monastery? What do young Burmese women dream of? The film was shot clandestinely in the region of Pyinmana, the new capital of Myanmar (ex-Burma) that replaced Rangoon in February 2006, and in Mandalay.
