Abstract: Mitologie di un passato prossimo: il punk dei Cicatriz deflagra sulla scena musicale basca all’inizio degli anni ottanta con canzoni scaturite dal disagio, sociale ed esistenziale, e atteggiamenti che li fanno etichettare come «cattivi soggetti». Nell’arco di una manciata di anni incidono tre dischi in studio e uno dal vivo; poi la maggior parte dei membri del gruppo se ne va con l’eroina o con l’AIDS. Girovagando per le strade di Vitoria, il film cerca di scovare le tracce di questi astri tramontati cosě in fretta; ma i locali underground non esistono piů e i bar dove si faceva l’alba hanno chiuso o cambiato insegna. Qualcuno del gruppo č ancora in giro e le gesta gloriose dei Cicatriz rivivono in questi racconti, quando i concerti finivano in rissa e le ragazze piů toste ispiravano i titoli delle canzoni. Con il tempo la realtŕ si č trasformata in leggenda. E questa sembra essere l’unica forma di consolazione. “Non avevo una sceneggiatura e non ho fatto molte ricerche preparatorie. Avrei saputo solo quello che i miei personaggi avrebbero deciso di raccontarmi. Le mie intenzioni di ritrarre una rock band dei Paesi Baschi degli anni ottanta mi hanno spinto ad intraprendere una ricerca personale di uno spirito che non esiste piů”. (Jorge Tur Moltó)
Myths of the recent past: at the beginning of the Eighties, the punk band Cicatriz exploded on the Basque music scene with their socially and existentially angst-ridden songs and attitude that quickly earned them the name «nasty dudes». In a handful of years, the band recorded three studio albums and one live album; then most of the band members and their friends fell victim to heroin or AIDS. Pounding the pavement in Vitoria, the film searches for traces of these quickly burnt out stars, but the underground clubs no longer exist and the all night bars have been closed or changed hands. Yet some of the group is still around, and the exploits of Cicatriz are revived through their stories of a time when crowds thronged the concerts and songs were named after the most brazen girls. Over time, reality becomes legend, and that may be the one source of consolation. “I didn’t write a previous script, and I didn’t do too much research either. I would know no more than my characters would be determined to tell me. My intentions went away from portraying a rock band in Basque Country in the Eighties so as to get close to a personal search of a spirit that doesn’t exist any more.” (Jorge Tur Moltó)
