Abstract: Dopo la fine della seconda guerra mondiale negli studi cinematografici di Babelsberg, Germania Est, transitarono 40 anni di regime comunista durante i quali i registi della compagnia DEFA, che dal 1946 alla caduta del muro, furono l'emblema del cinema per la DDR, crearono i primi film antifascisti e cercarono di dare un volto umano al socialismo. Cercarono anche di imporsi contro la censura del potere comunista. 20 anni dopo la caduta del muro, questa cittŕ del cinema si č trasformata in un sito mediatico al servizio delle grandi produzioni internazionali e di altre iniziative della televisione commerciale.
After the end of the Second World War, the film studios in Babelsberg, East Germany, experienced 40 years of communist rule during which the directors of the DEFA company, who from 1946 until the fall of the wall were the emblem of cinema for the GDR, created the first anti-fascist films and tried to give socialism a human face. They also tried to assert themselves against the censorship of the communist power. 20 years after the fall of the wall, this film city has turned into a media site serving large international productions and other commercial television ventures.
