Abstract: La drammaturga britannica Andrea Dunbar (1961 - 1990) aveva 19 anni quando la sua opera "The Arbor" fu messa in scena al Royal Court di Londra, era il 1980. Il suo ritratto crudo e incisivo della violenza e della dipendenza (da alcol e stupefacenti) perpetrate nel complesso residenziale di Bradford era tratto dalla sua esperienza personale: a 15 anni Andrea Dunbar era rimasta incinta in seguito ad uno stupro. La sua vita si spense a soli 29 anni. Questo film si concentra sulla relazione della donna con la maggiore dei suoi tre figli, la lucida e schietta Lorraine. La regista dirige degli attori che recitano, in playback, le interviste che ha raccolto e che spiccano per la loro franchezza e sincerità.
British playwright Andrea Dunbar (1961 - 1990) was 19 years old when her play 'The Arbor' was staged at the Royal Court in London, it was 1980. Her raw and incisive portrayal of the violence and addiction (to alcohol and drugs) perpetrated in the Bradford housing estate was drawn from her personal experience: at the age of 15, Andrea Dunbar had become pregnant following a rape. Her life ended when she was only 29 years old. This film focuses on the woman's relationship with the eldest of her three children, the outspoken Lorraine. The director directs actors who playback interviews she has collected and who stand out for their frankness and sincerity.
