Gli scienziati del Max-Planck-institute for Evolutionary Anthropology di Lipsia hanno lavorato alla decodifica del genoma di Neanderthal. I risultati sono stati inaspettati. C'è una piccola percentuale di Neanderthal in ogni uomo moderno, tranne che nella popolazione dell'Africa. Lo scienziato svedese Svante Pääbo, noto in tutto il mondo come pioniere della paleo genetica, e il suo team ci portano in viaggio tra i misteri dell'umanità.
Neanderthals are said to have been the 'first Europeans'. No one knows the reasons for their disappearance 30,000 years ago. In 1856, bones belonging to this prehistoric man were found for the first time and since then the Neanderthals have been the subject of study and speculation. Today, their mystery has been unravelled. Scientists at the Max-Planck-institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig have been working on decoding the Neanderthal genome. The results were unexpected. There is a small percentage of Neanderthals in every modern human, except in the population of Africa. Swedish scientist Svante Pääbo, known worldwide as a pioneer of palaeo-genetics, and his team take us on a journey into the mysteries of humanity.
