Abstract: Dawod cammina tra i vicoli del borgo. Arriva di fronte ad una porta, la apre. Entra, prende un foglietto e lo appende al muro: "Bazaar, prodotti realizzati da donne afgane, pachistane e indiane". Si siede e aspetta i clienti. Questa è la sua nuova vita di Riace, paesino di 600 abitanti nella Locride, famoso per il ritrovamento dei Bronzi nel 1972. Nel 1998 nello stesso mare approda un barcone con 300 curdi. Da allora è in atto un progetto di accoglienza per rifugiati e richiedenti asilo, un nuovo modello: cogliere questi arrivi come opportunità per ripopolare il vecchio borgo, spopolato dopo l’emigrazione. Creatore di tutto ciò Mimmo Lucano, un sindaco anomalo.
Dawod walks through the alleys of the village. He arrives in front of a door, opens it. He enters, takes a leaflet and hangs it on the wall: 'Bazaar, products made by Afghan, Pakistani and Indian women'. She sits down and waits for customers. This is his new life in Riace, a village of 600 inhabitants in the Locride region, famous for the discovery of the Bronzes in 1972. In 1998, a boat with 300 Kurds landed in the same sea. Since then, a reception project for refugees and asylum seekers has been underway, a new model: seizing these arrivals as an opportunity to repopulate the old village, depopulated after emigration. The creator of all this is Mimmo Lucano, an anomalous mayor.
