Abstract: La 762a base militare americana sta per essere costruita in territorio straniero, precisamente alle porte di Torkavec, piccolo paese di 80 abitanti della Repubblica Ceca. Il Sindaco cerca di impedirlo, dando cosě vita ad una serie di polemiche, scontri ed esilaranti rivelazioni. "Cĕský Mír"č un film di VÍt Klusák e Filip Remunda, gli autori del famoso documentario "Cĕský Sen", presentato con grande successo al Festival dei Popoli nel 2004. Con spirito dissacrante e sguardo sagace, i due registi aprono il sipario sul modo in cui i grandi scenari della geopolitica si ripercuotono sulle vite dei singoli cittadini, il livello personale si scontra con quello impersonale, lo specifico con l’universale, un piccolo villaggio con uno scudo stellare e l'individuo con la grande Storia. “Cĕský Mír č un film unico perché va dietro le quinte e ci mostra tutta l’assurditŕ del conflitto spaziale usando uno humor esagerato. La gente ha letto dello scudo o ne ha sentito parlare in TV, ma noi siamo andati dove le cose stavano accadendo con una videocamera per registrare l’inatteso. Ci dŕ sollievo ridere dei politici egoisti, e di noi stessi. Abbiamo filmato, ad esempio, il primo ministro Ceco Topolánek mentre si faceva bello nello studio ovale. Abbiamo anche filmato le scene di guerriglia sulle montagne tra la polizia e i pacifisti. «Last but not least», Cĕský Mír č unico anche perché abbiamo nascosto un messaggio segreto rosso nel film...”. The 762nd American military base is about to be built in foreign territory, right at the gates of Torkavec, a small town in the Czech Republic, population 80. The town mayor has tried to stop it, giving vent to a series of polemics, wrangles and exhilarating revelations. "Cĕský Mír" is a film by VÍt Klusák and Filip Remunda, makers of the famous documentary "Cĕský Sen" which enjoyed great success at the Festival dei Popoli in 2004. With the same desecrating spirit, the two directors give a cross-section of the way large-scale geopolitical machinations affect the lives of citizens. The personal clashes with the impersonal, the specific with the universal, a small village with a satellite radar, and the individual with History. “Cĕský Mír is unique because it goes behind the scene, and shows us all the absurdity of the radar conflict using larger-than-life humor. People have read about the radar or heard about it on TV, but we were there where it was happening with a camera to record the unexpected. It’s a relief to laugh at self-centered politicians, and at one’s own self. We filmed, for example, how Czech Prime Minister Topolánek preened in the Oval Office. We also filmed the suspenseful guerrilla-war-like chase in the Brdy Mountain between the police and peace activists.
