Abstract: Composto da frammenti che rimandano e si confondono tra loro, creando molteplici giochi di temporalità e spazialità, questo film mostra le condizioni di vita delle persone migranti a Calais in un periodo di tre anni (dal luglio 2007 al gennaio 2010). In questo modo, dimostra come le politiche impiegate dai moderni Stati di polizia si estendano al di là della legge, e causino zone grigie, crepe, luoghi indistinti tra la regola e le molte eccezioni. Gli individui sono trattati come criminali; spogliati, privati dei diritti più elementari che li rendono soggetti di diritto e sono ridotti allo stato di "corpi puri", o "vite nude".
Composed of fragments that refer back and blur together, creating multiple interplays of temporality and spatiality, this film shows the living conditions of migrant people in Calais over a three-year period (July 2007 to January 2010). In doing so, it shows how the policies employed by modern police states extend beyond the law, and cause gray areas, cracks, indistinct places between the rule and the many exceptions. Individuals are treated as criminals; stripped, deprived of the most basic rights that make them subjects of law, and are reduced to the status of "pure bodies," or "naked lives."
