Abstract: Una donna si immerge fra le onde del mare; la vetta di una montagna è accarezzata dalle nuvole: fra questi due paesaggi, che circondano la città di Carrara, trova spazio il lavoro di un giovane scultore. Il film segue passo dopo passo il procedimento creativo, soprattutto il lavoro fisico che il marmo necessità per divenire forma, dalla dimensione intima del disegno a quella fragorosa e incessante della fase di sbozzatura, dalla posa della modella fino ai silenzi della rifinitura. Lo sguardo si concentra sull’opera d’arte e su ciò che di essa rimarrà invisibile, ovvero il suo continuo mutare prima di divenire forma compiuta.
A woman plunges into the waves of the sea; the peak of a mountain is caressed by clouds: between these two landscapes, which surround the city of Carrara, the work of a young sculptor finds space. The film follows the creative process step by step, especially the physical work that marble needs to become form, from the intimate dimension of drawing to the thunderous and incessant dimension of the rough-hewing stage, from the posing of the model to the silences of finishing. The gaze focuses on the work of art and what will remain invisible about it, namely its continuous change before it becomes completed form.
