Abstract: Sandrine è una donna molto attraente proveniente dal Brasile che si trova a Londra nella speranza di trovare marito. Di lei s’innamora Steve, un senzatetto che ha alle spalle una storia di tossicodipendenze e altri problemi. Tra i due si mette anche Precious, una poetessa, ex fidanzata di Steve. Attraverso l’obiettivo di un telefono cellulare, il regista osserva le vite di questi tre esseri umani, sempre più incerto sul proprio ruolo: semplice osservatore o addirittura parte attiva della storia che intende documentare? “Non c’era alcuna sceneggiatura di partenza alla base del film”, racconta il regista, “il film nasce esclusivamente dal mio desiderio di documentare la vita delle persone coperte dall’anonimato delle città nelle quali viviamo. In questo modo il film si sarebbe offerto come uno spazio sociale da abitare e da condividere da parte di coloro che vivono ai margini. Non è un caso che la maggior parte del film sia stata realizzata in luoghi dove le persone passano velocemente, luoghi di transizione. Filmare un momento significa sempre la distruzione di quello precedente o successivo. È questa la paradossale verità che lega il cinema alla realtà”. (B. Gerrets)
Sandrine is a very attractive woman from Brazil who is in London with the hope to find an husband. Steve, a homeless man who previously had drug addiction issues and other personal problems, falls in love with her. But there is also Precious, a poet and, above all, Steve’s ex girlfriend. Through the camera of a cell phone, the director observes the lives of the three human beings, while becoming more and more uncertain about his role: shall he be a mere observer or take an active part in the story he wants to document? “There was no initial script at the basis of the film – tells the director – The film originates only from my desire to document the lives of people who are hidden by the anonymity of the cities we live in. In this way the film would have become a sort of social space to be inhabited and shared by those who are marginalized. It is no accident that most of the film is shot in places where people quickly pass by – places of transition. Filming a moment always entails the destruction of the previous or of the following one. This is the paradoxical truth which links cinema to reality.” (B. Gerrets)
