Abstract: Le paludi di Biebrza sono la più vasta area protetta della Polonia: più di 100 chilometri di lunghezza per più di 20 chilometri di larghezza. Il panorama è costellato da migliaia di uccelli, zone umide e un fiume selvaggio e serpeggiante. Krzysiek, Gosia e Julka osservano le gorgiere in mostra. Sono uccelli insoliti, non ci sono due maschi con il piumaggio dello stesso colore. Krzysiek sta cercando di avvicinare sua figlia Julka, di 11 anni, a questo mondo. Nel resto dell'anno la bambina vive con sua madre in città. Gosia, che ha sposato un anno fa, lo aiuta. Questo paradiso naturale è in pericolo. I prati sono cresciuti troppo, asciugando le paludi. Un gran numero di uccelli potrebbe perdere per secoli il luogo dove si riposano durante la migrazione. Inoltre, le autorità locali hanno autorizzato la costruzione di un aeroporto nelle vicinanze. Il film traccia il lavoro quotidiano e gli sforzi degli ambientalisti per preservare le ultime risorse naturali europee ancora scampate all'industrializzazione.
The Biebrza marshes are the largest protected area in Poland: more than 100 kilometers long by more than 20 kilometers wide. The landscape is dotted with thousands of birds, wetlands and a wild, meandering river. Krzysiek, Gosia and Julka observe the warblers on display. They are unusual birds; no two males have the same color plumage. Krzysiek is trying to introduce his 11-year-old daughter Julka to this world. During the rest of the year the child lives with her mother in the city. Gosia, whom he married a year ago, helps him. This natural paradise is in danger. The meadows have overgrown, drying out the marshes. Large numbers of birds could lose the place where they rest during migration for centuries. In addition, local authorities have authorized the construction of an airport nearby. The film traces the daily work and efforts of conservationists to preserve the last European natural resources still escaped industrialization.
