Abstract: Questo film si occupa di un argomento considerato un vero tabù, indagando la sessualità femminile prima del matrimonio e la verginità in Tunisia. Al centro di questo viaggio, scopriamo una pratica vergognosa ma sempre più diffusa, la ricostruzione chirurgica dell'imene delle spose deflorate, che ne assicura il sanguinamento durante la prima notte di nozze. Una testimonianza sull'eventuale emancipazione delle donne che fa da sfondo alla rivoluzione culturale in corso nel mondo arabo.
This film deals with a topic considered a true taboo, investigating female sexuality before marriage and virginity in Tunisia. At the center of this journey, we discover a shameful but increasingly common practice, the surgical reconstruction of the hymen of deflowered brides, which ensures its bleeding on the wedding night. A testimony to the eventual emancipation of women that forms the backdrop to the ongoing cultural revolution in the Arab world.
