Abstract: Yevgeny Rodionov era un soldato russo deceduto in Cecenia dopo essere stato fatto prigioniero e aver rifiutato di convertirsi all'Islam. Venne proclamato martire e divenne un santo non ufficializzato per molti russi credenti. La vita della madre di Yevgeny, Lyubov, subě un cambiamento radicale quando suo figlio venne santificato. Incapace di placare il proprio dolore, mantiene vivo il ricordo del figlio con il supporto di preti ortodossi, bande di motociclisti e dell'esercito russo, che usa la sua storia come monito per le reclute. Mentre la madre del santo appare in televisione, i giovani cadetti si preparano al sacrificio e a seguire le orme del loro eroe.
Yevgeny Rodionov was a Russian soldier who died in Chechnya after being taken prisoner and refusing to convert to Islam. He was proclaimed a martyr and became an unofficial saint for many believing Russians. The life of Yevgeny's mother Lyubov underwent a radical change when her son was sanctified. Unable to assuage her own grief, she keeps her son's memory alive with the support of Orthodox priests, motorcycle gangs and the Russian army, which uses his story as a warning to recruits. As the saint's mother appears on television, young cadets prepare for sacrifice and to follow in their hero's footsteps.
