Abstract: Entrare in trance, vedere ciò che i pensieri non vedono; attraversare le ombre della notte per giungere alla luce; trasformare se stessi con musica, danza e sostanze psicotrope. Questa è l’esperienza di uno Psychedelic Trance Party a base di LSD, Peyote e Mescalina. Esplosa negli anni '60 a San Francisco dall’incontro alchemico dell’LSD con il bisogno di libertà di una intera generazione, la musica e la cultura psichedelica hanno trovato negli ultimi 40 anni nuove forme underground per continuare a crescere, modificarsi, rigenerarsi. Il documentario segue questo filo sottile attraverso le voci di alcuni dei protagonisti: da Chet Helms, l’uomo che scoprì Janis Joplin e rese possibile la Summer of Love, Sam Andrew, chitarrista dei Big Brother & The Holding Company, Tom Constanten, tastierista dei Grateful Dead, Dr. Shulgin, il chimico dell’exstasy, Goa Gil, padre e guru della Goa Trance.
To enter a trance, to see what thoughts cannot see; to cross the shadows of the night to reach the light; to transform oneself with music, dance and psychotropic substances. This is the experience of a Psychedelic Trance Party with LSD, Peyote and Mescaline. Exploded in the 1960s in San Francisco from the alchemical encounter of LSD with the need for freedom of an entire generation, psychedelic music and culture have in the last 40 years found new underground forms to continue to grow, modify and regenerate. The documentary follows this subtle thread through the voices of some of the protagonists: from Chet Helms, the man who discovered Janis Joplin and made the Summer of Love possible, Sam Andrew, guitarist of Big Brother & The Holding Company, Tom Constanten, keyboardist of the Grateful Dead, Dr. Shulgin, the exstasy chemist, Goa Gil, father and guru of Goa Trance.
