Abstract: Nel 1987, Eddie e Mitch, due giovani punk del Midwest, si trasferirono in un appartamentino nel quartiere Lower Haight, a San Francisco. Attraverso muri di carta sottile, furono informalmente presentati ai loro vicini alcolisti di mezza età, Raymond Huffman, un omofobo furioso, e Peter Haskett, gay fiammeggiante. Notte dopo notte, i ragazzi sono stati intrattenuti e terrorizzati da un flusso apparentemente infinito di alterchi alimentati dalla vodka tra i due improbabili compagni di stanza. Le diatribe di Peter e Ray erano una miniera d'oro audio che implorava solo di essere registrata e fatta girare sul mercato sotterraneo dei nastri. Per 18 mesi, Eddie e Mitch appesero un microfono alla finestra della loro cucina per raccontare la bizzarra e violenta relazione tra i loro vicini borderline. Non soddisfatto di documentare questi eventi stravaganti, il regista Matthew Bate ha architettato un'esplorazione cupamente comica dai confini sfumati tra violazione della privacy, arte e divertimento.
In 1987, Eddie and Mitch, two young punks from the Midwest, moved into a small apartment in San Francisco's Lower Haight neighborhood. Through paper-thin walls, they were informally introduced to their middle-aged alcoholic neighbors, Raymond Huffman, a raging homophobe, and Peter Haskett, a flaming gay man. Night after night, the boys were entertained and terrorized by a seemingly endless stream of vodka-fueled altercations between the two unlikely roommates. Peter and Ray's diatribes were an audio gold mine just begging to be recorded and spun on the underground tape market. For 18 months, Eddie and Mitch hung a microphone in their kitchen window to chronicle the bizarre and violent relationship between their borderline neighbors. Not satisfied with documenting these outlandish events, director Matthew Bate concocted a darkly comic exploration with blurred boundaries between invasion of privacy, art and entertainment.
