Abstract: All'origine della sacralità di Lourdes c'è una pastorella di quattordici anni. Cosa abbia visto nella grotta di Massabielle, l'11 febbraio 1858, nessuno lo saprà mai. Eppure le sue visioni hanno fatto sorgere una città intera, popolata da preti e mercanti, pellegrini malati affamati di miracoli. Ancora oggi, le folle accorrono per abbracciare la roccia - e navigare con disinvoltura tra turismo e religione, tra una messa e un concerto, un bicchiere di acqua miracolosa e un po' di shopping. Ma che fine ha fatto l'umile pastorella?
At the origin of the sacredness of Lourdes is a fourteen-year-old shepherdess. What she saw in the grotto of Massabielle, on 11 February 1858, no one will ever know. Yet her visions caused an entire town to rise up, populated by priests and merchants, sick pilgrims hungry for miracles. Even today, crowds flock to embrace the rock - and navigate casually between tourism and religion, between a mass and a concert, a glass of miraculous water and a bit of shopping. But what happened to the humble shepherdess?
