Abstract: La popolazione Pokot vive nella regione nordoccidentale del Kenya e in alcune zone dell'Uganda. Sono un popolo fiero e fieramente indipendente con una forte identità culturale e tradizioni vigorose. Una di queste tradizioni è la mutilazione genitale femminile: un rito di passaggio obbligatorio nel passaggio all'età adulta. Questo film registra le testimonianze di uomini e donne che hanno vissuto questa tradizione, combattono contro di essa e, in alcuni casi, ne sono state vittime.
The Pokot people live in the north-western region of Kenya and parts of Uganda. They are a proud and fiercely independent people with a strong cultural identity and vigorous traditions. One of these traditions is female genital mutilation: an obligatory rite of passage in the transition to adulthood. This film records the testimonies of men and women who have lived this tradition, fought against it and, in some cases, been its victims.
