Abstract: Ricreare la prima inquadratura del primo film della storia del cinema: L’uscita dalle fabbriche Lumière. Come rendere oggi il rapporto tra lavoro e il lavoro del cinema in un mondo profondamente modificato dai principi neoliberisti? I vecchi stabilimenti Renault di Boulogne-Billancourt, ripresi frontalmente, nello specifico la fabbrica dismessa de l’Île Seguin, diventano il teatro dell’azione. La ripresa non è più frontale, ma di tre quarti. Al posto della fabbrica sorgerà un parco, probabilmente un centro culturale. Le attività del tempo libero sostituiscono il lavoro. Che ne sarà degli operai? "Il mio film è nato dall’idea di ritrovare una delle inquadrature originali del cinema. Un treppiedi, una macchina da presa, tre riprese, degli operai che escono da una fabbrica. Ma gli operai non ci sono più. Che cosa è successo? Questa è la domanda del mio documentario, che riproduce la scena del film dei Lumiere in diversi siti degli ex stabilimenti della Renault. Dal topografo al pensionato passando per il vigile, ho incontrato realmente (fuori campo) tutte le persone che evoco nella voce off. I dialoghi sono la trascrizione quasi integrale delle conversazioni che ho avuto con loro" (A. Gerber).
To recreate the first shot of the first film in the history of cinema: workers leaving the factory in the Lumières’ film. How to depict today a relationship between work and the work of cinema in a world that has been radically changed by Neoliberalism? The old Renault plant of Boulogne-Billancourt, shown in a frontal shot, and in particular the dismantled factory of Île Seguin become the scene of action. The shot is no longer frontal, but three-quarter. The factory will be replaced by a park, probably by a cultural center. Spare time activities replace working activities. What will become of the workers? "My film comes from the idea of recreating one of the original shots of cinema. A tripod, a camera, three shots, workers leaving a factory. But the workers are no longer there. So what happened? This is the question raised in my documentary, which reproduces the scene of the Lumière brothers’ film in different areas of the former Renault plant. I really met (off-screen) all of the people I mention in the voice-off, from the topographer to the traffic policeman to the pensioner. The dialogues are the almost complete transcription of the conversations I had with them" (A. Gerber).
