Abstract: Chi era veramente Simona Kossak, la leggendaria ricercatrice che viveva circondata da animali selvatici nella foresta di Białowieża? Perché è fuggita dalla casa della sua famiglia, la famosa casata dei Kossak? Com'era la vita della prima eco-attivista polacca negli anni '70? Foto e registrazioni uniche ed inedite provenienti dagli archivi di Simona e del suo compagno di vita, Lech Wilczek, ci portano nella foresta primordiale e ci permettono di sperimentare una vita unica lontano dalla civiltà. Simona è stata la preferita di un corvo che terrorizzava la zona, è stata anche madre di una lince e di una coppia di alci, e il suo approccio empatico agli animali e alle piante non solo ci ha permesso di vedere la Foresta di Białowieża come un ecosistema unico al mondo, ma ci aiuta anche a capire che siamo coinquilini sul Pianeta Terra e che dovremmo lasciare vivere le altre creature. Questa vibrante e intransigente visionaria in anticipo sui tempi ha dovuto spesso lottare da sola per il benessere della natura e per il nostro rispetto nei suoi confronti.
Simona Kossak - who was she, really? The legendary researcher who lived surrounded by wild animals in the Białowieża Forest? Why did she escape her family home - the famous Kossak dynasty? What was the life of the first ever Polish eco-activist like in the 1970s? Unique and unreleased photos and recordings from the archives of Simona and her life partner, Lech Wilczek, take us to the primeval Forest and allow us to experience a unique life away from civilization. Simona was the favorite of a raven terrorizing the area, she was also a mother to a lynx and a couple of elks, and her empathetic approach to animals and plants not only allowed us to see the Białowieża Forest as a world-unique ecosystem, but also helps us understand that we are flatmates on Planet Earth and that we should let other creatures live. This vibrant and uncompromising visionary way ahead of her time often had to fight alone for the well-being of nature and our respect towards it.
