Abstract: La ventiduenne Lotte Bax ripercorre gli eventi drammatici occorsi una sera in cui si è trovata ad affrontare una violenza insensata. Insieme alla sorella - e regista - Fleur e all’altra sorella, Sophie, cerca di dare un finale alternativo a quella notte, discutendo con loro le conseguenze dell’accaduto e la paura che ne è derivata. Contemporaneamente, l'astronoma Annelotte Derkink è impegnata nella ricerca di una supernova e spera, insieme ai colleghi, di poter assistere alla sua esplosione, un evento che cambierebbe radicalmente la configurazione del cielo. Entrambe le donne indagano su un evento notturno destinato a lasciare il segno. Le stelle ci guardano? Se lo chiede la giovane regista olandese dando vita a un corto capace di comporre uno spazio protetto in cui elaborare i traumi e trovare conforto. Accompagnato da una suadente e raffinata partitura musicale, un gesto creativo di matura consapevolezza che segue con affettuosa partecipazione le protagoniste nel loro viaggio di riconciliazione.
Twenty-two-year-old Lotte Bax goes back on the dramatic events of an evening during which she had to face senseless violence. Along with her sister and film director, Fleur, and her other sister, Sophie, she attempts to create an alternate ending for that night, discussing with them about the consequences of what happened and the fear that derived from it. Simultaneously, astronomer Annelotte Derkink is focused on the search for a supernova. Along with her colleagues, she hopes she will be able to watch it explode, an event that could dramatically change the sky’s configuration. Both women are exploring nocturnal events bound to leave a mark. Are stars watching us?, wonders the young Dutch filmmaker, making a short film which creates a safe space for processing traumas and finding some reassurance. Accompanied by a mellow, refined music score, this is a creative gesture of mature consciousness which follows the characters along their journey to reconciliation with loving participation.
