“The Nineties had a pretty bad start”, this is how Vincent Dieutre introduces us to the shadows of his personal universe in those years going through Utrecht, Naples and Rome. In three chapters and two love stories, this geographical and sentimental trip between fiction and reality, essay and intimate diary, is also a quest for the research of beauty through the "Tenebrism". The dramatic chiaroscuro of this art, mainly initiated by Caravaggio, and the depicted bodies translates into the “Baroque drama” described by Dieutre: a drama in which the bodies of the protagonists and those depicted in the painting seamlessly mix, generating a confusion that, as in the Stendhal Syndrome, alters perception and creates illusions. “Contemplate the city that gives in to the night, at your feet, the real life explodes and a new hope overwhelms you, an unprecedented and intense emotion. Colors, sounds, bodies, everything becomes readable, awakening forgotten desires inside of you. Here, you can get closer to the fire” [V. Dieutre].
