Abstract: Il film rievoca l’esperienza di Heise quando nel 1990 mise in scena, con un gruppo di ragazzi, “Anatomie Titus Fall of Rome”, dramma di Heiner Müller. Sven Behrendt è uno dei giovani attori che il regista segue nell’arco di tempo tra il 1999 e il 2005. La parola «Neger» del titolo si riferisce all’affermazione di Heiner Müller “Ich bin ein Neger” (Io sono un negro) pronunciata quando gli fu conferito il premio Georg Büchner nel 1985 e che nelle sue intenzioni indicava la marginalità dell’intellettuale. Heise ne accoglie la portata polemica e la estende ai suoi protagonisti, che si ritrovano a vivere in un paesaggio economico e sociale in perenne mutazione. I fantasmi non riposano mai in pace. La lettera che Sven (diventato probabilmente uno skin, stando al cranio rasato) legge in macchina, augurandosi che il suo amico regista Thomas non sfrutti la loro amicizia per guadagnare prestigio e minacciando persino di fargliela eventualmente pagare se così fosse, quasi senza rendersi conto (o non preoccupandosene affatto) delle numerose incertezze di dizione, è tra i momenti più alti di tutta la filmografia di Heise (cosa che indica anche la sua straordinaria sensibilità e intelligenza nel trattare i materiali altrui).
This film recollects Heise’s experience in 1990 when he staged a play by Heiner Müller, “Anatomie Titus Fall of Rome”, with a group of kids. Sven Behrendt is one of the young actors, whom the director follows from 1999 through 2005. The word «Neger» in the title refers to the statement “Ich bin ein Neger” (I am a nigger) Heiner Müller released when he received the Georg Büchner prize in 1985, thus meaning the marginal position of the intellectual. Heise revives its controversial scope and applies it to his protagonists, who are living in a continually changing economic and social landscape. Ghosts never rest in peace. Sven reads a letter in camera shooting himself – he must have become a skinhead if one were to judge from his shaved head – and wishes his friend film-maker Thomas never exploits their friendship to acquire fame. He even threatens to retaliate in case, almost without realizing (or being concerned at all) his own spelling mistakes. This counts as one of the highest moments in Heise’s entire cinema, and reveals his strikingly sensitive and clever approach when dealing with other people’s materials.
