Abstract: Secondo capitolo della Trilogia di Neustadt. Cosa è cambiato dal primo film? Alexander Kluge intervista Thomas Heise per la sua trasmissione televisiva “10 vor 11” il 18 dicembre del 2000. A.K.: “A tutti i superflui del mondo: unitevi! Può avere un qualche valore politico?” T.H.: “Potrebbe, non lo so, e non so se voglio avere questo tipo di valore, perché poi si finisce inevitabilmente a destra. Quando si mette insieme estrema povertà, intesa nella sua accezione più ampia, non solo in senso economico, ma anche di testa, allora si può osservare come la cosa si sviluppa inevitabilmente in un movimento a destra. Ero già stato a Halle sette anni fa, c’era il problema di questo gruppo marginale di estrema destra, che all’epoca veniva definito come skinhead. Nel frattempo quelle stesse argomentazioni, quello stesso modo di pensare si sono spostate al centro e si trovano lì con grande naturalezza. Ecco cosa accade, e lo si può osservare in maniera molto precisa. Bisogna guardare in quei volti, quando si prende il tram da Halle a Bad Dürnburg, la più grande linea tranviaria d’Europa. Puoi stare più di un’ora sul tram. Se guardi i volti della gente puoi scoprire tutta questa problematica in una sola faccia silenziosa”.
Second chapter in the Neustadt trilogy. What is changed from the first film? Alexander Kluge interviews Thomas Heise in his TV show 10 vor 11 on December 18th, 2000. A.K.: “Redundant of the world, unite! Can this have any political value?” T.H.: “It can, I don’t know, and I don’t know if I want it to have this kind of value, because then you end up invariably on the right-wing side. When you put together extreme poverty intended in its broadest meaning, that is not only the financial but also the intellectual meaning, then you can see how a movement towards the right is inevitably developed. I had already been in Halle seven years ago, and there was the problem of this marginal, extreme-right group which at that time had been defined as skinheads. In the meanwhile, those same issues, that same way of thinking have moved towards the centre, and are now dwelling there with great ease. That’s what is happening, and it can be observed very precisely. You only need to look at those faces, when you take the streetcar from Halle to Bad Dürnburg, the longest tramway in Europe. You can stay on the streetcar for more than one hour. If you look at the people’s faces you can see all of this concern, in one single silent face”.
