Abstract: Dopo essersi avvicinato per alcuni anni all’arte povera, Giulio Paolini è oggi considerato un maestro dell’arte concettuale italiana. Lungo il suo percorso artistico, Paolini ha costantemente indagato la rappresentazione, l’arte del vedere. Dal “Disegno geometrico” del 1960, alle opere degli anni successivi, l’attenzione dell’artista si volge verso il rapporto tra le opere, lo spazio espositivo e lo spettatore, con un gioco di interrogazione infinita, di messa in scacco e di citazioni. La verità non è dell'autore ma è dell'opera: l’artista torinese vuole affermare il primato di un continuo debutto in cui l’autore e lo spettatore annodano i loro destini sino a confondersi l’uno con l’altro.[br[
After approaching “arte povera” for a few years, Giulio Paolini is now considered a master of Italian conceptual art. Throughout his artistic career, Paolini has constantly investigated representation, the art of seeing. From “Geometric Drawing” of 1960, to the works of the following years, the attention of the artist turns towards the relationship between the works, the exhibition space and the viewer, with a game of endless questioning, checkmate and quotations. The truth does not belong to the author but to the work: the artist from Turin wants to affirm the primacy of a continuous debut in which the author and the spectator tie their destinies together to the point of confusing one with the other.
