Abstract: Milano, Stazione centrale, 1980. In questo “luogo dell'impermanenza” dove il regista ha ambientato la storia di “Oggetti smarriti” (suo film di a soggetto) vivono gli emarginati della società. I racconti della loro vita quotidiana parlano di disperazione, di tossicodipendenza, di prostituzione, di fallimenti e di piccole speranze... Il potere perde qui ogni dimensione astratta: le forze economiche e sociali dominanti sono mostrate nel loro effetto sui corpi, nella carne stessa degli umani, nel silenzio che li circonda. La distruzione degli esseri non è più un dato statistico: è una realtà visibile. L'impegno del cineasta mette lo spettatore davanti all'implacabile concretezza della parola ‘potere’: nei visi, nei gesti, nei racconti viene alla luce l'infernale catena delle cause e degli effetti.
Central station, Milan, 1980: this «place of impermanence», where the director set the story of his fiction film “Oggetti smarriti”, is home for marginalized elements of society. The stories of their everyday life are all about human desperation, drug addiction, prostitution, abject failure and tentative hope. In this context, power is stripped of its abstract dimension, and the effect of the dominant economic and social forces can be seen in the bodies and even in the flesh of the protagonists, and in the silence that surrounds them. The destruction of human lives is not just a statistic but visible reality. The filmmaker’s commitment forces the viewer to address the implacable concreteness lying behind the word «power», as the faces, gestures and stories bring to light the terrible chain of cause and effect.
