The story of a young Roma woman who cannot fulfil her dream of working as a hairdresser. Iva came to Germany with her husband and settled there. She desperately wants to stay in the country. But after seven years, she fears deportation because she and her family are living there illegally. We get married in Belgrade to see where Iva might return to if she were to leave Germany. The central part of the film was shot at the Belgrade airport. You can see the fear in the children's eyes when they arrive. The Roma families had just returned from Germany, from which they had been expelled. From now on, the adults live among the rubbish in the dump, collect paper, rummage in the streets, polish shoes or sell at the flea market. Life on the margins of society in the slums is often unhygienic if not downright dangerous. School children are victims of violent right-wing criminals. They are forced to work as street musicians, flower sellers, beggars or prostitutes. There is much resignation and little hope. In the film's prelude, a man describes his dramatic escape from the former Yugoslavia by ship across the Adriatic Sea.
