Abstract: Etnologo, esploratore, cacciatore e avventuriero - il conte Eric von Rosen (1879 - 1948) ha condotto un'esistenza insolita, caratterizzata da profonde contraddizioni: interesse genuino per le popolazioni native dell'Africa da un lato e razzismo di stampo coloniale dall'altro. Il regista Peter Nestler ha intrapreso un viaggio sulle tracce delle imprese del nonno. Il suo è un film-saggio sulle spedizioni di Eric von Rosen, illustrato da fotografie scattate da lui stesso e da testi tratti da diari, pubblicazioni e lettere.
Ethnologist, explorer, hunter and adventurer - Count Eric von Rosen (1879 - 1948) led an unusual existence, characterised by profound contradictions: genuine interest in Africa's native peoples on the one hand and colonial-style racism on the other. Director Peter Nestler has embarked on a journey in the footsteps of his grandfather's exploits. His film is an essay on Eric von Rosen's expeditions, illustrated by photographs taken by him and texts from diaries, publications and letters.
